DataFlow Successfully Combats the Challenges in Sudan

doctors-hands-wearing-surgical-gloves-holding-sudan-flag-heart2

Sudan, a country full of talent and numerous universities, faculties and institutes, however, has remained challenging for us due to political unrest. The massive force majeure has not been favourable to our services – stalling the process of verifications. In the period from October to January, we have had various challenges, yet we had a successful journey, which resulted in obtaining verification for more than 11,000 applications — generation of PSV reports for all those applicants.

How did we strategize our resources and capabilities to achieve results?

Our approach encompassed:

Robust Research:

Our dedicated resources explored various online and offline channels to connect with IA officials and attained contact details so that they can collaboratively work on a solution with them to close the applications.

Long-term Relationship with Issuing Authorities:

Leveraging our long-standing relationship with the universities and institutes in Sudan, we were able to connect with their team during the time when the internet connection was limited and collaborate effectively to process pending documents.

Persistent Communication:

Our team established solid and steady communication with the Issuing Authorities which helped the officials to resolve our queries and verify documents. The most impactful outcome of our continuous communication was that not even a single application was tagged as “unable to Verify’.

In nutshell, in spite of unparalleled challenges, DataFlow continued to demonstrate its grit and commitment toward its end goal and reimagined the approach and processes to achieve the same.

Shortfall of Healthcare Professionals Globally Continues To Peak

medical-banner-with-icons2

The Global Pandemic has resulted in a double whammy across the globe, with increased demand for healthcare professionals and reduced availability. Especially impacted were countries with a large proportion of expatriate healthcare professionals. 2021 saw healthcare migration return to pre-covid levels, with twice as many nurses migrating compared to 2020.

Healthcare worldwide has been severely impacted by the global pandemic. Communities have become extremely vulnerable and fragile as they try to cope with increasing shortages of qualified staff.

Regulators have witnessed a serious shortfall of health professionals and are facing increasing challenges in attracting qualified and competent staff while meeting their recruitment targets. In the UK alone, there was already a shortage of around 50,000 nurses before the coronavirus pandemic, and the healthcare system is still nowhere near to bridging that gap.

Countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic depend on foreign-born workers in the critical sector of healthcare services. In the United Kingdom and the United States, 29% and 25% of doctors are foreign-trained. The growing demand for medical professionals and the limited pool of available talent continues to challenge the healthcare system of these countries.

Severe nurse shortage is expected to continue and peak within the decade

  • One out of six of the world’s nurses are expected to retire in the next ten years, meaning that 4.7 million new nurses will have to be educated and employed just to replace those who retire*.
  • There has been a growing demand for international nurses, mainly due to an ageing nursing workforce, reduced domestic supply, insufficient nursing training capacity,  focused national policy on international recruitment as a “solution”, better earnings and career prospects from the source country.

In the context of increased demand and constrained supply, there has been a 5% increase in the percentage of fraudulent documents presented. There has been an 11% year-on-year increase in the number of misrepresented employment documents shared for verification purposes, while there has been a decline in the number of misrepresented education credentials.

Overwhelmingly, DataFlow’s clients agree to have a comprehensive set of checks consisting of education, previous employment, certificate of good standing and Digital Footprint Verification to help identify any discrepancies or deficiencies in the licence applications.

The quest for Zest

Zest1

For years, The DataFlow Group has focussed on what matters most when it comes to it’s premium Primary Source Verification products. Proving whether someone is safe, reputable and trustworthy enough to work in high-risk roles within your organisation has been at the root of our processes and our key focal point, overseen by some of the industry’s leading governance of reliable and secure data handling.

And now we’re introducing a new level of focus to the entire experience of using DataFlow’s products with our new Zest User Interface (UI). We’re embarking on a completely new look and feel for all of our products that will start to be introduced in 2022 to our new applicant and client portals.

Introducing Zest UI

Zest2

Zest UI has been designed from the ground up to be an emotional connection with our technical platforms.. Every data element we collect, every document we ask for, every entry that we request – every single one has been re-evaluated to ensure we only collect what we absolutely need in order to seamlessly move our applicants through the application process as fast and as simply as possible.

Zest UI builds on specific elements that include the following as core principles:

Consistency

“Swipe left” movement through the panels to ensure the feel and flow through the process is consistent and becomes familiar.

Simplicity

Minimal, related data elements on each panel with a “keep it simple” approach. We took decluttering to the max and have ensured that each screen asks for no more than 5 data elements.

User-sensitivity

Active panel derivation based on previous inputs to ensure we only ask for what’s relevant based on prior input. Each new panel is built and rendered on the fly using beautiful graphics with carefully thought-through colour sequences to make the process as painless and easy as possible.

Persistency

Persistent tracking and presentation of cost for clarity and awareness – no surprises at the checkout!

Trackability

Easy tracking of progress – stop and come back any time to complete and know exactly what you still need to do to complete.

Zest3

If it doesn’t bring you joy…

Not only are these design elements being combined into the new design, but we’re taking this opportunity to take the thousands of lines of programming code from our existing portals and throw them away! Given we’re starting the design from ground-up, it also made complete sense to start the  application development from ground-up using the latest development concepts and languages fit for this decade and the next.

By recreating the entire process from scratch, it gave us an opportunity to rethink the architecture to ensure resilience and reliability are foundations of the new platform. Along with this redevelopment comes a massive speed increase to enable rapid movement through the process with minimal delays related to screen refreshes and wait-times.

Enterprise-wide

The Zest UI interface will eventually make its way across the entire Enterprise platform that DataFlow provides. All portals and touch-points for clients, applicants, agencies and consumers of our services will eventually see the benefits of our new interface which will ensure consistency across the fleet of products and services, and we are very much looking forward to bringing you this completely new experience.

How DataFlow is checking the Accreditation status of universities and entities?

prlNaric-768x350

DataFlow Primary Source Verification methodologies and advanced processes verify the credentials of professionals from the issuing source of the document, called ‘Issuing Authorities’. Apart from evaluating the genuineness of an educational institute what sets us apart is the proprietary CrossCheck database which includes a full dataset on known diploma mills and unaccredited institutions. CrossCheck, as part of our umbrella brand DataFlow tracks well-known education regulators and apex education bodies across countries, that publish lists of unaccredited  institutes in their jurisdiction. CrossCheck updates its records from these primary sources.

Why is Accreditation important in the verification of credentials/ Primary Source Verification process?

There are plenty of diploma mills floating around, selling education degrees or certificates for cash/profit. A Diploma mill (also known as a degree mill) is an organization that awards academic degrees and diplomas with substandard or no academic study and without academic approval by an officially recognised organisational body or a qualified government agency.

Hence, Accreditation becomes paramount. Accreditation of educational institutes creates a set of quality standards for all degrees, courses or programs rendered by institutes ensuring quality education worldwide, which builds trust and confidence.

How DataFlow checks the Accreditation status during the Primary Source Verification process?

When an institution or degree program is accredited, we are able to gauge Issuing Authority overall quality which further adds value to the overall Primary Source Verification report ensuring the quality of education attained by the applicant beyond just verification.

Accreditation Research includes:

  • Confirming the affiliation status of Issuing Authorities and the degrees rendered from Issuing Authorities
  • Confirming the affiliation status from the regulatory/affiliating bodies/Ministries
  • Confirming the degree/course affiliation status and the period in which

With our Diploma Mills database of 9300+ records, that lists

  1. Government entities
  2. Universities not listed by the government
  3. Suspect University listing, that is universities that have no remark made by the governing bodies, our efficient team checks the accreditation status of the university/entity.

Specialised team

DataFlow has a specialised Research Team dedicated to establishing the Accreditation/Affiliation status of Educational Institutions across the globe.

Solid expertise:

Over a period of time, DataFlow has gained expertise and knowledge regarding education systems across various countries and this knowledge is assimilated and systemized by the company.

Robust Database:

DataFlow’s CrossCheck team has over 9300 records of Unaccredited/Unrecognized Institutes across the globe that include 3500+ records where written confirmation from respective regulatory bodies has been procured.

First hand information:

The CrossCheck team also tracks and collates first hand information for all Blacklisted/Unapproved/Fake Educational Institutions published by regulatory authorities across the world to guide the client in taking informed decisions. This information is accessed through a specialised dataset “Diploma Mills and Unaccredited Issuing Authorities” available on Dataflow’s CrossCheck Database.
